Identity
Sukuna is the character for players who want to end fights decisively. His kit is built around M1 pressure into high-damage finishers: Dismantle for ranged slash pressure, Fuga for explosive area denial, and World Cutting Slash as a finisher that rewards well-timed commits. He is less about spacing and more about forcing decisions.
The King of Curses kit is visually distinct from Yuji and Guts. Where Yuji converts with speed and Guts controls with range, Sukuna advances and does not stop until the opponent is dead, out of the arena, or has blocked the last available finisher.
He does not have an awakening form listed as a separate slot. Treat the finishers as the full kit expression rather than a transformation you wait for.
Observed tools
From showcase footage and gameplay previews:
- M1 string: Sustained close-range pressure. Four-hit family that keeps opponents locked down.
- Dismantle: Ranged slash tool used to finish staggered targets, punish distance, or apply pressure from just outside melee range.
- Fuga: Explosive flame attack with area denial properties. Use after creating space or confirming control before closing the gap.
- World Cutting Slash: Heavy finisher reserved for confirmed openings. High damage, significant commitment.
- Counter timing: Sukuna’s kit includes tools that can counter opponents who attack on a predictable rhythm.
- Air combat: Air variants and aerial follow-ups are part of the kit. Sukuna can pursue launched opponents and continue pressure above ground.
How he feels in a real lobby
Sukuna is the character you play when you want every fight to end in the next thirty seconds or not at all. His M1 strings are not the fastest but they apply constant pressure, and his finishers convert hard-fought neutral wins into stocks.
The risk is overcommitting. His strongest tools are also high-commitment tools. A missed Dismantle or a blocked Fuga leaves Sukuna in recovery, and a smart opponent will punish the gap. The Sukuna player who wins is the one who reads when to commit rather than the one who always presses.
In a 100-player lobby, Sukuna’s visible finishers are a signal. Other players will notice a World Cutting Slash animation and move toward it. Finish quickly or move immediately after a kill.
Matchup notes versus Yuji and Guts
Versus Yuji: Yuji’s speed can make Sukuna’s commitment windows feel tight. Sukuna players should force Yuji to block first and use Dismantle to catch escape routes rather than opening from neutral.
Versus Guts: Guts’ range is Sukuna’s problem in the same way Guts’ range is everyone’s problem. Sukuna players should wait for Guts to swing and punish the recovery with Dismantle or close the gap before the sword reaches full extension.
