Strikeborn Review

A paid two-character battleground with a real air game — and a paywall that is allowed to annoy you.

Early Access Review

Strikeborn is the first Roblox battlegrounds title in a while that looks like someone played a platform fighter and a 2D game, then stole the good parts. It is also a paid early-access listing with two complete characters and a 100-player cap. Both of those sentences are true at once. This review is for players deciding whether the Robux buy-in is a good idea, not for a recap channel that needs a 10/10 thumbnail.

Play footage in the middle of this page is a real 1v1 session, not a cinematic trailer. Pair it with the official reveal trailer on the home page and with Getting Started if you already paid.

What is actually good

Air combat. Uppercut converts, air skill variants, and wall jumps make fights feel directed instead of like two people taking turns on a flat pad. Creators who were bored of the genre said the same thing in 2025 tests, and launch-week clips did not lose that spark.

The map. Cliffs, waterfalls, pads, a shrine roof. It is pretty, but more important, it is vertical. You can be good at movement here in a way TSB clones do not allow.

Guts. A complete greatsword kit with range and already-named tech is a better advertisement than another punch man. Yuji is the teacher; Guts is the poster.

Presentation. Sound and VFX got compliments even from people who had drifted off battlegrounds. The official thumbnails look like the same game you load, which is rarer than it should be.

What is actually rough

Roster. Two mains. Incomplete Naruto and Gon slots are a teaser, not content. If your entire interest is those two anime leads, you will feel scammed. Read unfinished roster before you pay.

Paywall and gates. Community reports put the buy-in around 400 Robux, with 16+ and region checks, plus flaky joins. That is a lot of friction for a test. Details: early access.

Lobby size. 100 players is a clip farm and a third-party machine. Isolated 1v1s feel great. Random servers often do not. If you wanted a ranked island, this is the wrong product.

Lag. EU testers complained during invites. A prettier map plus more bodies will not magically fix that. Low graphics, fewer particle add-ons, and edge fights help. They do not delete ping.

Systems around the fight. Levels, shop, accessories, spins — they exist as UI. They are not a reason to play. The reason to play is the round you actually convert in the air.

Who should spend Robux

  • Battlegrounds players who miss depth more than they miss roster size.
  • People who will lab for a week on combat.
  • Guts fans who understand they are buying a PvP kit, not a Berserk campaign.

Who should wait for the free build

  • Anyone who only queues anime fighters to play Naruto or Gon.
  • Players who bounce off paywalls on principle.
  • Anyone whose internet already melts in TSB. This map is heavier.
  • People who need daily codes as a dopamine loop. There are none confirmed.

The roadmap is the waiting room: one more complete character, then a free public plan. That might be soon. It might not.

Score without a fake number

As a combat sandbox, Strikeborn is already more interesting than most of its genre. As a product you pay for today, it is a two-character beta with a beautiful cliff. If those two sentences still sound like a buy after you have read starter picks, go in. If they sound like a trailer you have seen before, wait. This wiki will still be here when the third kit ships, and the updates hub will not pretend the paywall was a full launch.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Strikeborn early-access players.

Is Strikeborn worth Robux?

Yes if you want air combat and you accept two complete kits. No if you wanted a free full roster this week. See early access and the roadmap.

Is Strikeborn just TSB with new skins?

No. Direction variants, wall jumps, jump pads, and a vertical map are the point. Roster size is still TSB-early, not TSB-now.

Does it run well?

Mixed. Tests already showed EU lag, and 100-player servers will not be gentle. Lower graphics and fight on edges.

Will this review change?

When a third complete character ships or the paywall drops. Until then the verdict stays: excellent sandbox, unfinished product.
